The Mission is San Francisco’s original neighborhood, with history that dates back to the late 18th century and the establishment of the City. Mission is home to a wide variety of restaurants, nightlife and rich music and arts culture. The neighborhood is home to thousands of restaurants, including Valencia Street Restaurant Row. It also has the highest concentration of murals in the city – adorning buildings, fences and walls throughout the district. Mission also includes Potrero Hill’s Dogpatch neighborhood, which is one of 11 historic districts in the city.
Mission is served by two BART stops and 10 different bus lines and has direct access to Highway 101 and I-280, which is the main connection to the Peninsula and Silicon Valley.
