East Hampton is located in southeastern Suffolk County at the eastern end of the South Shore of Long Island. The town includes the village of East Hampton as well as Montauk, Amagansett, Wainscott and Springs. The town has eight state parks, most located near its beaches.
With over 70 miles of shoreline, the town is spread across 74 square miles and is home to over 21,000 residents. Additionally, the town has jurisdiction over Gardiners Island, which is one of the largest privately owned islands in the United States.
The town is known for its lavish and expensive summer homes and being the summer destination of New York City’s elite. Additionally, it is known for its high-end shopping with destinations such as Tiffany & Co., Cynthia Rowley, Brunello Cuccinelli and Gucci. It is home to notable events including the East Hampton Fire Department 4th of July Fireworks show, a charity benefit called the Artists and Writers Softball Game and the Hamptons International Film Festival.
