Lebanon City is located in the central part of the Lebanon Valley, 26 miles east of Harrisburg and 29 miles west of Reading. Originally known as Steitztown, Lebanon City was founded by George Steitz in 1740.

Within two blocks of the Central Business District are located The Lebanon Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College, Lebanon Farmers Market, the city’s library, Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, numerous churches and the City-County Municipal Building. Each year, the Community of Lebanon Association sponsors a variety of public events and Lebanon’s citizens enjoy the rich history of the downtown area and visit its various specialty shops.
