Charlotte is North Carolina’s largest city, its banking industry second only to New York City’s and with a variety of attractions to meet the city’s increasing heft. Yelp named Charlotte America’s #1 up-and-coming city in America in 2017, while US News & World Report ranks it as one of the country’s top 20 metropolitan areas to live in.
Young people continue to move to the area from the rest of the country for Charlotte’s weather, plentiful employment, and vibrant cultural scene. It is home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, along with a variety of minor league and collegiate teams. As one of the Southeast’s largest metropolitan areas, it hosts major concerts on national tours as well as a number of indigenous performance houses, including the Charlotte Ballet, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Over 29,000 collegiate students call the area home, attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Davidson College, and Winthrop University, amongst others.
